Amex appoints Engenium for Fiji Iron Sands Project - 04.01.2012
Project Delivery firm, Engenium have been appointed by Amex Resources to deliver a Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) on its Mba Delta Ironsands Project in Fiji.
The project is located in the northwest of Fiji’s main island of Viti Levu and comprises magnetite rich ironsands. The tenement covers more than 120km2, and includes the inter-tidal delta at the mouth of the Ba River extending approximately 4 kilometres out to sea.
In undertaking the BFS, Engenium will deliver the engineering design of the processing plant and related infrastructure including transport, storage and shipping of the concentrate. The value of the contract is approximately AUD$1m.
“We are very excited to be working with the Amex team on this project,” said Wayne Peel, Engenium’s Managing Director. “Amex is looking to take this project into production quickly with construction targeted to start in 2012. We will be working closely with the Amex team to fast track this project, and get Fiji’s first iron ore mine into production.”
The study is expected to be completed by the end of March 2012.
