Stephen Beamond has just joined Engenium as our Executive General Manager for Queensland. Find out more about his role at Engenium, what inspires him and his love of British humour.
What is your role at Engenium?
Executive General Manager – Queensland. I lead the newly established Brisbane office and I’m working on building a great team. We are currently securing our first customers, so there is a strong focus on business development. Once acquired my role will be ensuring we deliver what we promised, along with securing more work as the office grows.
What are your areas of speciality and expertise?
Leadership, strategy, business development, client liaison, estimating, bid and proposals management, contract negotiation and project implementation.
What projects are you currently working on?
Leadership of the team in the Brisbane office. We are building a Process Engineering centre of excellence in the battery metals, base and precious metals sectors, providing services for test work programs, various level studies and eventually project delivery.
What do you enjoy about working at Engenium?
Engenium has a great team, culture, cutting edge systems and processes.
What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?
I am entrepreneurial and enjoy both developing and growing businesses as well as working with talented teams on delivering outcomes.
What do you love to do outside of your work life?
Golf. Although it’s very much a love/hate relationship some rounds! However, I shall overcome with more lessons, practice and playing.
What makes you laugh?
Most British humour. Monty Python, in particular, is still great after many years.
Who is someone that inspires you?
Given I am a keen investor it would have to be Warren Buffett.
What is your favourite quote?
“Some days are diamonds and some coal. As long as you have a healthy mix of both, things are ok”. I’m not sure who said this, but it sums things up pretty well in my view.
