Bishoy Isaac joined Engenium just over a year ago as an experienced Project Engineer for our Newcastle office in New South Wales. He is currently one of our many outsourced professionals working within Origin Energy’s major projects and overhaul team.

“I assist Origin Energy with managing a program of projects to efficiently and sustainably run their power stations.”

Bishoy helps Origin Energy to manage their Darling Downs Power Station, near Dalby in Queensland. His role is to manage a program of projects that efficiently and sustainably run the power station in a flexible manner, responding to peak demands across the day.

Bishoy also assists with managing Origin Energy’s Mortlake Power Station in Victoria. This involves the implementation of advanced monitoring systems to ensure the safe operation and reliable long-term performance of the generators.

“What I enjoy most about working at Engenium is that I get to participate in challenging major projects, thanks to the businesses ongoing relationship with key clients.”

Power generation science has always been Bishoy’s passion and he considers himself very lucky to have spent most of his career involved in the design and construction of power stations. It’s his experience of power stations that has exposed him to a diverse range of mechanical equipment and complex piping systems.

Working on power stations requires attention to detail, imagination and a fair understanding of the different systems and how they react to different operational conditions and thermal stresses – skills that Bishoy has learnt to develop over the years.

“The construction of a process or power plant requires a huge team effort, dedication and perseverance. But it all pays off in the end when you see tonnes of steel turn into a live, fully functioning plant with efficient production.”

It was his interest in power generation science that inspired him to pursue a career in mechanical engineering. Since graduating from university and gaining his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering Bishoy has gained over 15 years of project engineering and project management experience on both EPC and EPCM projects involving gas plants, power plants and water treatment plants, as well as multiple construction sites.

Outside of work Bishoy enjoys swimming, diving, fishing and basically anything that involves water and the beach. He is also partial to a game of table tennis.
